The **Octane** and its later version, the **Octane2** , code named Speed Racer, is a high end workstation marketed by Silicon Graphics between 1996 and 2004. Replacing the Indigo2, it is an SMP-capable (dual CPU) machine running the MIPS R10000 to R14000 series of processors. The main differences between the Octane2 and the Octane are configuration-related. The Octane 2 has upgraded motherboard, power supply, front plane and graphics options, but it's entirely possible to retrofit these upgrades to a regular Octane, creating the "Octane 1.5" as many have popularly dubbed it.

et no image. I switched out the video board from the working octane 2 and still no image. I am not sure how these come apart to see what’s in it or what other diagnostics I can run to get a picture. --- Post by Raulozzi --- This fuel isn’t powering on at all which I will for now assume it is just the psu but will switch the psu out of this one and the other one and find out. --- Post by rbz --- Looks like nicely spec'd machines, interested whenever you are ready to sell. For the red octane does the light bar on the front work? Here is a good diagnostic chart to diag the octane https://techpubs.jurassic.nl/manuals/0650/enduser/Octane_OG/sgi_html/ch08.html , its also important to note that the connectors on the octane modules are delicate and shouldn't be touched or rested on anything. Also, behind the front cover of the octanes are a series of LEDs that can also help diagnostics, they are the are described here: https://wiki.preterhuman.net/SGI_Octane#Front_plane_LEDs I don't know a bunch about the Fuels but I do know their PSU does go bad, actually all SGIs seem to have PSU problems these days. Swapping the PSU to test is a great place to start.
